“A Young Couple Drinking Chocolate, With a Madame Looking On” by Jean-Baptiste Mallet (1759-1835)”

Chocolate … Drinks, cakes, candies, desserts or bars – you can enjoy it in any form. From its taste to its aroma, chocolate is sensual and sexual, reigning supreme on Valentine’s Day. Moulded chocolate rabbits and eggs are traditionally given on Easter. Hanukkah is celebrated with “golden” chocolate coins. Chocolate gifts are always appreciated on holidays, birthdays, and any other occasions.
No wonder that chocolate has been the centerpiece of many paintings, books and movies.
Before you enjoy the “chocolate art”, we’d like to remind you that the stimulant activity of cocoa comes from the compound theobromine, which has been identified as one of the compounds contributing to chocolate’s reputed role as an aphrodisiac. Theobromine and caffeine are similar in that, they are related alkaloids.
